
The Pleasantville baseball team defeated Des Moines Christian on the road Saturday as the softball team went 1-1 at the Rose Festival Tournament hosted by West Marshall.
The #2 ranked Trojan baseball team resumed a suspended game against the Lions where they picked up the 8-6 win. In the contest, Braylon Bingham got the win on the mound pitching all seven innings giving up two earned runs and striking out seven. Offensively Bingham went 3-5 at the plate with a home run and three RBI, and Noah Rist was 2-4 with a double. The Pleasantville baseball team improves to 20-0 on the season.
The Trojan softball team fell in their first game of the Rose Festival Tournament to East Marshall 3-0. Offensively Ella Clark, Kally Wysong, Harper McGraw, and Taylor Perkins had hits in the contest for a team total of four. Coach Alee Phillips said it was a good game and her team played well but they just couldn’t get hits strung together. Phillips adds Lainey Kennedy pitched great in the contest only allowing a couple of base hits but they happened to get them with runners on scoring position.
In game two, the Trojans defeated Marshalltown 9-0. Kally Wysong got the win on the mound and Harper McGraw ended the game with a three run home run walk off to put the Trojans up enough to finish the game in six innings. Against Marshalltown Faith Nelson had a three hit game and Ella Clark, Kally Wysong, and Harper McGraw both had two as the Trojans had 13 total hits as a team. Phillips said her defense was solid in game two and the sticks came more alive and the team had more successful at bats. The Trojan softball team moves to 11-7 on the season.
The Trojan baseball and softball teams will be back in action on Monday for doubleheaders against Earlham.
