The Iowa Department of Transportation has announced plans to resurface the east and west portions of State Highway 117 through Prairie CIty. About a mile of the road, also known as 2nd Street or Old Highway 163, will be reduced to one lane with a pilot vehicle during the project. The State Department of Transportation says the resurfacing is tentatively scheduled to start at the end of July, with construction taking approximately one week. InRoads Paving of Des Moines will be handling the project, and says both lanes of traffic will be open to traffic at the end of each workday.
