An Indianola man who was arrested for kidnapping and willful injury in 2023 pleaded guilty earlier this week.
Des Moines Police arrested Jordan Mangum from his residence in Indianola in December of 2023, after patrol officers were notified by the Osceola Police Department that a 32-year-old female was at the Clark County Hospital reporting she had been bound with duct tape and kidnapped from her Des Moines home by her ex-boyfriend. The female stated she was transported to an unknown location outside of Indianola, where she was choked, run over by a vehicle, and had her throat cut before being placed back in the vehicle and driven to the Clark County Hospital, being dropped off in the street.
Mangum pleaded guilty to third-degree kidnapping, assault while participating in a felony with a dangerous weapon enhancement, domestic abuse impeding air/blood flow causing injury, and entered an Alford plea for attempted murder.
A sentencing has been set for July 25th.
An accomplice in the crime, Jessica Ann Wheeler, pleaded guilty to attempted murder and third-degree kidnapping earlier this year, and will be sentenced July 24th.
