The Indianola-Norwalk softball rivalry continues tonight when the Class 5A 15th-ranked Indians visit the 4A 2nd-ranked Warriors for a conference doubleheader at 5:30. Both games can be heard live on kniakrls.com (KNIA3), starting with pregame coverage at about 5:15.

Indianola enters the twin bill with an overall record of 13-10 and a Little Hawkeye mark of 8-5. Norwalk is 22-3 overall and 11-2 in the LHC, one game behind Dallas Center-Grimes in the league standings.

The Indians handed the Warriors their first loss of the season on June 9, overcoming deficits of 3-0, 4-1 and 7-5 in the seventh to win 8-7 on Alexa Guyer’s walk-off two-run homer. Both teams totaled 12 hits in the offensive showcase. Addie Fisher homered for Norwalk and Indianola had six extra-base hits against Warrior ace pitcher Carly Brewer, who struck out nine in defeat. Ashley Schultz and Ava Tichy split the pitching duties for Indianola.

Both teams played a rain-shortened game on Monday and had Tuesday night off.
