The Knoxville Summer Sports Squads completed an unusual night in Bloomfield on Thursday night. The baseball squad finished a suspended game with Davis County before playing its scheduled game with the Mustangs. In the first game which was suspended in the eighth tied at five, the Panthers made quick work in their half of the 8th by getting the walk off win on an error scoring Grant DeMoss for the 6-5 win. Roston McCarty pitched an inning of relief to get the win. In the 2nd game, Knoxville got five hits to Davis County’s three but could not get any of the five home and was unable to take advantage of Mustangs errors either for a 2-0 loss. The only scoring was a two run 3rd by Davis County. Brady Roozeboom went five innings in taking the loss. Knoxville has a key double header tonight in Chariton. Meanwhile, softball fell to Davis County 4-2. The Panthers got on the board first but were unable to keep the lead allowing three runs by the Mustangs. Knoxville had runners in scoring position in the 7th, but Davis County turned a double play to squash the Panthers’ hopes. Coach Chris Peden believes his team can still manage a good finish in the conference.

Peden: “We have a chance to fight our way back to the middle of the pack. It really stinks we haven’t been able to finish these games, you wish you could get them done that day. We have a big game against Clarke that we shot ourselves in the foot the last time we played, then we start our work.”

The softball Panthers will also hit the road tonight to Cardinal to pick up a suspended game. Knoxville is currently leading six/two in the third inning.
