The Knoxville School Board approved a high school gym sound system replacement at their meeting Monday night.

The board approved a quote from Daktronics for the sound system and Ardent Lighting for the installation for a total of just over $36,000. The replacement will include the total replacement of the sound system in the high school gym and a relocation of the controls for the sound system to the athletic storage room. School Business Manager Craig Mobley says the old sound system was not up to standard.

“I think probably anybody that has attended an event over the past few years whether it be an athletic event, whether it be any other type of event, graduation or anything like that knows that sound system was not working properly and had some age to it and just needed to be replaced.”

The sound system replacement is expected to be completed this summer.
