The summer teams from Pella High School enjoyed rare days away from competition before the end of the week, when they return home tonight to take on Oskaloosa at home.

Pella’s #2 in 3A baseball team learned its postseason journey in the three days away from competition, last competing Monday in a lightning-shortened, 9-1 win over Pella Christian. The Dutch are still technically alive for a share of the conference crown, needing to win out and hope Indianola falls to the Eagles tonight. Pella swept Oskaloosa, although did so without a hit in game one of that doubleheader, and the Indians are back in town this evening.

The Dutch softball team is up to 14-10 overall after wins over Pella Christian and Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont earlier this week. Pella will also look to finish a season sweep of the Indians, a feat they have not accomplished in the Quikstats/Bound records that date back to 2009. The Dutch combined for 26 runs in their two games in Osky on June 11, which included four combined home runs from Katie Scheckel and Emma Eekhoff.

It’s also senior night before the varsity girls game this evening. Coverage of softball begins at 7 p.m. on the KRLS2 stream and Pella Dutch Live on YouTube.
