The Knoxville Summer Sports Squads head to Albia on Monday for South Central Conference games. The softball squad has the unenviable task of playing unbeaten and class 3A number eight Albia. The Lady Dees scored a 13-0 win over Knoxville earlier in the season. Panthers Coach Chris Peden tells KNIA/KRLS Sports hitting has started to show signs of progress and hopes the offensive output against Cardinal in their last game carries over to this week.

Peden: “For some of us it’s early aggressiveness and for some of the rest of the girls it’s like an 0-2 count doesn’t bother them, they seem to simplify themselves for the rest of that at bat.”

Knoxville also found out its postseason road on Friday as the Panthers will travel to Gilbert on July 10th for the first round of the class 4A Regional. On the other side of the Monroe County Sports Complex. The baseball Panthers will take on Albia in the final game of the series this season and try to keep pace with Chariton in the South Central Conference.
