A 25 year old Newton man accused of Domestic Abuse Assault Impeding Air Flow, a class D felony, is free on a $5,000 bond. According to Newton Police, Gage Bryan-Douglas Wedeking put his hands around the victim’s neck twice, while in the bedroom of his North 11th Avenue East Apartment. Two other people in the apartment at the time reportedly broke up the physical altercation, which allegedly occurred around 1:30 a.m. last Wednesday morning. The police report adds the victim had red abrasions on their neck. Wedeking is scheduled to appear in Jasper County District Court tomorrow.
