The Greater Newton Area Chamber of Commerce will cut the ribbon on the new Westwood Golf Course Clubhouse at noon today. The process of replacing the old clubhouse, which was once a small house, began on February 26th of last year. Ball Team LLC of Urbandale built the 100’ x 60’ clubhouse for $699,000. The building is opening without an operational sprinkler system, due to a lack of water pressure. The City of Newton will be installing a larger water main this year to fix the problem, but until then the clubhouse can hold up to 99 people without any restrictions, under a memorandum of understanding with Jasper County and a variance from the Iowa Department of Inspection, Appeals, and Licensing.
