An ordinance is on the agenda of the Pella City Council meeting this evening that would place the City of Pella within compliance of a new state law that overrides previous laws related to fireworks for municipalities. Currently, Pella City Code prohibits the use of fireworks within the city limits, but an ordinance on the agenda would move to be in compliance with Senate File 303, which no longer allows communities to ban the use of fireworks on July 3rd and 4th and December 31st. If approved, the new code would provided allowable times for the use of fireworks on those dates. Other agenda items include:
– Public Hearing for sewer lining project on several city streets
– Public Hearings to vacate several sanitary sewer and water main easements
– Public Hearing to change a Planned Unit Development with Vintage Estates
– Special Event Permit for Fight for Freedom 5K
– Resolution for Preliminary Plat for Vintage Estates
– Resolution to Establish UMB Bank as paying agent for bonds
– Resolution securing $15.6 million in sales and services tax revenue bonds for Rec Center project
– Resolution approving infrastructure grant agreement with the Federal Aviation Administration for airport improvements
During policy and planning, the council will discuss two proposed urban renewal plans for housing projects. The Pella City Council meeting begins at 6:00 this evening in the Pella Public Safety Complex.
