Knoxville Baseball pitchers combined for 19 strikeouts in two games and pulled off the sweep over Albia in a varsity double header on Monday night 7-3 in game one and 11-4 in game two. Knoxville also posted a big inning in both games to take control offensively. In game one, Kyler Gifford recorded eight strikeouts, one of which was his 100th career K, and allowed just six hits while Lincoln Norris did his damage at the plate getting two hits and two RBI. Roston McCarty also drove in two as Knoxville broke open a close game in the 7th with four runs. In the nightcap, Knoxville scored nine runs in the 6th after falling behind the Blue Demons 4-2. The Panthers also rode the pitching of Brenden Woolsey as he got the win in relief, mowing down nine Albia batters and allowing just four hits in five innings of work. Norris was 2/5, Luke Roozeboom was 2/4, and Jesson Ferguson went 2/3. Grant DeMoss and Briar Kingery drove in two runs each to lead in that department. Knoxville is now 18-10 and 13-5 in the South Central Conference. Knoxville will host Clarke tonight on Panther Drive.
