The Indianola baseball team split a doubleheader with Urbandale Tuesday at home, winning 9-3 in game one and falling 5-2 in game two, while the softball team blew out Oskaloosa 11-3.
Game one for baseball again saw a George Blake shutdown performance on the mound, going six innings striking out five for the win, while going 2-4 at the plate driving in a run, and Asher Brueck drove in two runs. Game two saw Urbandale take an early lead and ended up closing out the game as the Indians offense struggled to score runs in a 5-2 loss. The Indians are now 25-5, and will next host Carlisle tomorrow for a doubleheader at Simpson College.
Osky took an early lead in the softball contest as the Indianola offense was slow to start, but quickly ramped up. The Indians plated a run on a Dana Blake home run, then went ahead on another Blake home run in the fifth, and Alexa Guyer added more in the sixth with another shot over the fence as Indianola scored seven in the final two innings to seal the win. Indianola is now 18-12 on the season, and will next play in the DCG Invitational tomorrow.
