It was a bounce back victory on the road for the #2 in Class 3A Pella baseball team in a 7-3 victory over Grinnell on Tuesday, while the Dutch girls hung tough but ultimately dropped their matchup with #7 in 4A North Polk in a 3-1 contest in Alleman.

Pella’s baseball team had a couple of key, big hits, including a grand slam by Hayes Lautenbach in the 3rd inning and a two-run triple by Lincoln Kocour off of the bench in the 7th for insurance. Nathan Carey navigated seven baserunners and allowed just one earned run in four innings, with Isaiah Kettler finishing the game with three innings and another run allowed. The Dutch earned their 20th win of the season and return to action Thursday at home against ADM, a game that can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS and watched on Pella Dutch Live.

The Dutch softball team hung tough but fell to the #7 Comets. Their lone run and hit came with Emma Eekhoff’s 10th home run of the summer, and she battled to contain the North Polk lineup with the defense to just three runs. Pella falls to 17-12 and is off until Monday with a road trip to Perry.
