Brighton Beach Memoirs is the next play the Newton Community Theatre will be performing, with auditions just days away. The play is part one of Neil Simon’s autobiographical trilogy. It’s about his life as a young teen in 1937, living with his Jewish family in a crowded, lower middle-class Brooklyn walk-up apartment. Auditions for seven cast members will be held on Monday and Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Newton YMCA Conference Room. Parts that are available are for one man, two women, two girls twelve or older, and two boys fifteen or older. Brighton Beach Memoirs will be directed by Jennifer Brown and Rachel Faidley.
