The Knoxville Softball Squad got plenty of runners on bases and in scoring position but could not get any of them home in a 3-0 loss to Oskaloosa on Thursday. The Indians scored in the 2nd, 6th and 7th innings while the Panthers outhit the Indians 7-6. Hannah Dunkin was 3/3 on the night. Knoxville had two runners in scoring position in the bottom of the 7th, but was unable to score. Coach Chris Peden told KNIA/KRLS Sports a lack of a couple of feet on several of those hits would have made the difference.
Peden: “We had runners on multiple times and had really good approaches to the plate, and it’s a testament to Osky and they stayed with them, but a couple of inches to the left or right and it’s a whole different story.”
Jordyn Counts took the loss allowing six hits and striking out two. Knoxville is 3-17 and will play next on Tuesday against Fairfield.
