A big 6th inning didn’t tell the whole story of an otherwise competitive contest for the #2 in 3A Pella baseball team, as the Dutch defeated ADM 12-3 in a non-conference tune-up heard live on 92.1 KRLS Thursday.
Pella started the game with two runs in the 1st inning, aided by a pair of Tiger errors. The bats for both teams would slow down, as a returning Teagan Hoekstra kept ADM in check through three scoreless frames. The road team surged for three runs in the 4th inning to take a lead.
The Dutch eventually responded, with a nine-pitch at-bat turning into a solo, game-tying home run for Lucas Jablonski in the 5th inning. That led to four consecutive baserunners, keyed by the second of three doubles for Isaiah Kettler that gave the lead back to the home team.
Pella would explode for seven runs in the 6th to earn the victory. The Dutch improve to 21-6 overall and hold senior night festivities between varsity games at home Monday in a doubleheader with Washington; game two can be heard on the KRLS2 stream.
