The Marion County Board of Supervisors will continue discussing a sheriff deputy position at their regular session meeting on Tuesday.
This position was talked about at a recent meeting, as it was put on the agenda by Supervisors Chair Kisha Jahner, as there is currently an opening for the position. Jahner had suggested moving current Mental Health Deputy Derek Lanser into that vacant spot to backfill the position, which would ultimately result in eliminating a position in the sheriff’s department. This resulted in a back-and-forth discussion between Jahner and Sheriff Jason Sandholdt at the meeting, as Sandholdt did not agree with the elimination of a position in his department.
Also at the meeting, the board will present employee years of service awards, consider a fair association VA grounds parking agreement, hold two public hearings and consider action items for a zoning map amendment ordinance and amending a county ordinance regarding zoning. The board will also look to approve two road department project contracts and consider a joint agreement and letter of support for the Competitive Highway Bridge Program (CHBP) grant project.
Tuesday’s Marion County Board of Supervisors meeting will start at 9:00 am, and will now be held at the North Annex building, which is also known as Marion County Public Health, and this will be the first time the board has met in this location.
