Maytag Pool in Newton is closed for the second time this season, this time due to contamination. The city has announced the pool is closed until Wednesday, July 9th for cleaning and chemical treatment following a fecal incident on Sunday. Pool staff appreciate the public’s understanding as they work to maintain a safe and clean environment for all swimmers. 

Maytag Pool also had to be closed for nine days last month when a pair of full face goggles broke during a June 13th pool party, releasing small pieces of glass into the pool. Since the pool had to be drained, Newton’s Park Operations Assistant Superintendent Jamie Murphy addressed some areas of the pool that needed to be fixed before it re-opened Monday, June 23rd.
