Kaleb DeVries threw a 14 strikeout one hit gem to lift the PCM baseball team over East Marshall in the opening round of Class 2A Substate 6 play on Monday night.

PCM picked up the 3-0 win at James W. Cownie Park in Des Moines scoring runs in the first, third, and fifth innings to secure the win after DeVries shut down the East Marshall bats all game. The game was originally scheduled for Saturday night but was postponed to Monday due to weather. DeVries only gave up one hit pitching 6 ⅔ innings and recorded four walks with the 14 strikeouts. On offense Coby DeRaad went 2-4, and DeVries, Trigg Steenhoek, Alex Wendt and Konnor Bell each had a hit in the contest as DeVries drew two walks. PCM improves to 9-13 overall and will have a quick turnaround as they will travel to Pleasantville tonight to continue postseason play against a 27-1 Trojans squad.
