The City of Newton plans to open bids later this month for the outdoor patio area that will be added to the south side of the new clubhouse at Westwood Golf Course. Brad Sponseller is the Golf Pro at the city-owned golf course, and he says the patio will be a connection for golf cart traffic to and from the clubhouse and a great place for people to gather and relax.
“It’s going to be a really nice patio. We are going to have about as many tables and chairs on the outside as we do on the inside. We will have a fire pit in the middle of it. So it’s not just for golfers to enjoy, it’s for everybody. Come on out and enjoy a pizza or a Chicago Dog, have a non-alcholic or an alcoholic beverage, and enjoy one of the best views in Jasper County.”
The bid opening for the patio is scheduled for July 24th, with the Newton City Council holding a public hearing to award the work during their regularly scheduled council meeting on August 4th. The engineer’s estimate for the patio addition is just under $70,000. The money for the project is to come from the city’s 2025 bond proceeds.
