Marion County Public Health held their monthly providers meeting on Monday.

The meeting provides healthcare and community organizations an opportunity to inform the public of updates within their respective organizations. There is a presenter at each meeting, and on Monday, the presenters were Christine Giberson with Every Step Hospice and Julie Gibbons with Polk County Behavioral Health and Disability Services. Giberson talked about what Every Step offers for people needing hospice in the local community and how the referral process works, while Gibbons discussed the resources her organization provides. Giberson says that hospice care for loved ones can be utilized in a variety of ways.

“I feel like a lot of people think hospice is a destination but it sure is not. We do have a house but you can receive hospice in your home, you can receive hospice in a hospital, you can receive it in an independent living facility, assisted living, or a group home. Wherever you live is where we can serve you.”

The providers’ meetings are held the first Monday of every month.
