The Melcher-Dallas Softball Squad found things a little tougher than what it bargained for against Belle Plaine in the 1st round of the Class 1A regional on Monday. While the Saints pulled away late to run-rule the Plainsmen 12-4, Belle Plaine would cut early 7-2 Saints lead to 7-4 before Melcher-Dallas put the game away in the 6th inning. Brooklyn Bingham went ¾, driving in four runs while Lotty Nolte went the full six innings allowing seven hits and striking out three. Coach Karen Sorensen told KNIA Sports her team had to battle back from adversity a few times and was proud of how they overcame everything.
Sorensen: “I thought we did a good job from the start and getting the bats on the ball. We had a few things not go our way in the middle but I liked how we fought back and remembered that it’s we over me and that was a good we game.”
Melcher-Dallas is now 9-11 and will travel to HLV/Tri-County on Wednesday in the regional quarterfinals.
