The Knoxville Softball Squad fell to Fairfield in the last game of the regular season on Tuesday 10-7 heard 95.3 KNIA. The Panthers fell down 5-0 early on, but started to chip away at the Trojan lead to close to within 5-4 in the 7th inning, but the Trojans put the game away with five runs in the 7th. Knoxville did battle back with three runs in its half of the 7th but got no closer. Marlea Cox was 2/4 at the plate with two RBI. Macy Cox and Hannah Dunkin each drove in a run. Dunkin told KNIA/KRLS Sports her teammates were able to battle back due to energy and getting timely hits.

Dunkin: “We just had to change our mentality and our energy and we started getting hits and we knew we could hit that girl and just grew our confidence.”

Jordyn Counts took the loss, pitching all seven innings striking out three. Knoxville ends the regular season at 3-19 and will travel to Gilbert Thursday for the first round of the class 4A regionals.
