The Marion County Conservation Department will be hosting two events on Saturday.
The first event is sunrise yoga in partnership with Carin Yoga and Wellness. The event will start at 8:00 am and be held at Cordova Park. The yoga session is $20 and is open to those with any experience level. Attendees are encouraged to bring a mat, towel for under the mat, and water.
The next event will be a Mushroom Foray held in conjunction with Marion County Conservation and the Prairie States Mushroom Club. The event will be held from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm at Cordova Park and will include a mushroom identification and edibility foray. This is open to anyone, but registration is required. Marion County Naturalist Karen Johlas-Szalkowski says the mushroom foray is a great way to expand knowledge and gain valuable information about mushroom harvesting.
“I think this is a wonderful event to just expand your knowledge, but also to be able to identify the mushrooms correctly so that if you are planning on harvesting them to eat that you know what it is and you know if it is safe or not safe and what time of year to pick that mushroom.”
