It was a record-setting year for the 14th Annual Lake Red Rock Balloonfest 5K/10K, as over 210 individuals  competed in the event at North Overlook Beach on Saturday morning.

Pella Christian Head Coach Mike Buchheit is grateful for the sponsors and the participants who ran along the trails of the Red Rock area to support the high school cross country teams in Marion County, including the Eagles, Knoxville, and Pella.

“The vision of Balloonfest was how do we get more people to come out to the lake, trails, the beauty that exists out here, and in our case to get people running and moving around. So, we talked early in our years, 14 years ago, about how we would like to fill the parking lot and have to worry about having to have volunteers to help with parking. So, it was nice to see a full parking lot today and we had a banner year with participation levels which was nice to see.”
