Carousel Theatre is beginning their new show next week, Anastasia: the Musical. Cast member Alex Lindsley tells KNIA News the story follows a young woman named Anya, an amnesiac orphan with a mysterious past, who may be the lost Grand Duchess Anastasia Romanov. Lindsley also said musicals bring with them their own brand of fun and excitement along with the extra difficulty of putting it all together.
“The directing team typically has a director and an assistant director, now has a music director, and a stage manager, and an assistant stage manager, and a choreographer. Backstage we have shift crew, costume crew, actors doing set shifts, we’ve got people managing the props and making sure everything gets placed throughout the show, it’s just so much more of a big production. Then you add in the fact that we are in such a big space in the Indianola High School Auditorium, it gives us that opportunity to fill out that space and make it truly grand.”
Shows will run July 24th-27th, and again July 31st-August 3rd, with Thursday-Saturday shows at 7pm, and Sundays at 2pm. Hear more on Today’s Let’s Talk Indianola.
