The Falcons scored two runs in the first inning and tacked on one more in the second to take a 3-0 lead. The Eagles then answered back in the fifth inning with three runs of their own after Amaia Agre scored on a wild pitch, Rachel Kacmarynski scored on a sacrifice fly, and a Laurel Roozeboom single drove in Chloe Snyder after she reached on a walk. After giving up three runs in the first two innings, Pella Christian starting pitcher Laurel Roozeboom settled into the game only giving up one base runner in each the third and fourth innings.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Kamryn Taylor hit a three run home run for Louisa-Muscatine to put the Falcons on top 6-3. The Eagles then had base runners in the sixth and seventh innings but weren’t able to push any runs across as they dropped the game 6-3. Rachel Kacmarynski reached base four times in the game and Amaia Agre, Maddy Van Zee and Laurel Roozeboom all had two hit games. Rachel says that despite the loss she can confidently say her team played with joy all season.
“We just had so much fun. We loved hanging out, we loved going on bus rides to games, we loved every bit about this season, it was just so much fun. We truly played with joy. That was kind of our word coming into this season, play with joy. I believe that we had joy at every practice, at every at-bat, at every game and we truly emphasized that.”
The Eagles conclude their 2025 season with a 13-17 overall record and will graduate just two seniors.
