Fifteen people staying at the Colfax Inn in Colfax Tuesday night were evacuated after a report of smoke in the motel. Jasper County Emergency Management Agency Director Jamey Robinson says the Colfax Fire Department cut power to the building after assessing the situation, and having concerns regarding the electrical system. There was no fire. Robinson, with assistance from the Colfax Fire Department and the American Red Cross, coordinated temporary housing and essential supplies for the displaced motel occupants. An investigation into the incident continues.
