The Knoxville Rotary Club presented a $10,000 check to The Grand Theater at their weekly meeting on Wednesday.
Many other individuals, community businesses, and organizations over the past week have made donations, held fundraisers and have come up with unique ways to raise money to help the local theater raise $125,000. The theater is facing foreclosure as they owe the money to the company who dried out the theater after they suffered devastating water damage last summer. Sara Roberts with the Knoxville Rotary Club says Rotary wanted to do anything they could to help such an important entity in the community.
“We recognize that The Grand Theater is a such staple in our community and the Rotary Club was a big part of getting that resurrected back in the day so we just feel very strongly that that entity is at the heart of our community and we need to do whatever we can to help them.”
KNIA/KRLS will provide updated fundraising numbers when they become available.
