Accura Healthcare in Knoxville planted a tree this week to honor a life that was lost one year ago in a vehicle tragedy that happened at the center.

A tree planting ceremony was held at the center this week which the center says is so they will “always have something growing as strong as we all are.” On July 15th, 2024, a vehicle drove into the facility which ultimately ended up taking the life of one of the residents. The tree that was planted was a fruit tree, and the center tells KNIA/KRLS that it was chosen to be planted because it has something to give as the resident who lost her life was a giving soul. 

A social media post by Accura on Tuesday stated:

“Today, last year, we went through the most horrendous tragedy, no one would have ever seen coming. Through the loss, the grieve, the storm, we made it. It has taken 365 days to get this far. We still miss and talk about the one we lost, and still have so many different memories of her. She may be gone, but we will never forget.”

The tree is planted in the front of the center.
