A new Kwik Star gas station and car wash in Knoxville will start construction on the week of July 28th.
The building permit for the project was issued by the City of Knoxville on July 10th. KNIA/KRLS spoke with the site superintendent for the project, who stated the project will start construction the week of July 28th and be finished in approximately 20 weeks. Dirt work has already begun at the property located on the corner of Highway 14 and West Pleasant St. to get the site ready for construction to start.
Last September, the Kwik Star site plan was approved by the Knoxville City Council, which will include the retail store, 20 sports for fueling, and a car wash. The land that the store will be built on was formerly owned by the Knoxville Community School District and private ownership but was sold to the convenience store chain for $400,000. Kwik Trip stores in Iowa are named Kwik Stars due to branding competition with an already existing company. The Wisconsin-based group has seen rapid growth in the Midwest over the last decade.
