The Knoxville School Board set their legislative priorities ahead of the upcoming school year at their meeting Monday night.
The Iowa Association of School Boards (IASB) at the end of July asks all school boards to take a look at potential priorities so they can get their platforms ready to go for the upcoming legislative session. The priorities the Knoxville School Board chose were private school choice, special education, teacher professional development and retention, and supplemental state aid. School Business Manager Craig Mobley hopes these topics will be lobbied for in the next legislative session.
“We will get that communicated with the Iowa Association of School Boards and hopefully at least some of those items will be included in the state level lobbying efforts for public school districts.”
The 2026 Iowa legislative session begins on January 12th.
