
A vehicle struck a power pole north of Knoxville this morning, resulting in the loss of power for several residents.
The vehicle struck a pole and flipped on 132nd Place north of Knoxville and knocked it to the ground, while starting another pole on fire. Mid-American Energy is currently on scene working on assessing the damage and restoring power as soon as possible. As of 8:00 am, there were 28 Mid-American customers impacted by the power outage, and power is estimated to be restored at 9:45 am. Knoxville Fire Chief Cal Wyman says there were no occupants on scene when emergency crews arrived.
Marion County Sheriff Jason Sandholdt tells KNIA/KRLS that the incident is still under investigation. Crews on scene were the Knoxville Fire Department, Knoxville Police Department, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, and Mid-American Energy.
