The community of Knoxville has rallied together and raised enough money over the last two weeks to save The Grand Theater from foreclosure.

Just shy of two weeks ago The Grand Theater stated that they were facing foreclosure due to an unpaid bill to a company who dried out the theater last summer after they suffered substantial water damage. Since then, a large number of community members, local businesses and organizations have come together to donate to keep the local theater alive. Many donation announcements and unique fundraising efforts were announced over the last two weeks of ways businesses and organizations would do their part to help financially support the theater.

On Thursday The Grand Theater announced on Facebook that they are confident the theater will be able to move forward. The theater did state “We do ask for your support to continue, with legal fees and our supplies amounts increasing, we want to continue to give Knoxville affordable and accessible entertainment.”

Grand Theater Foundation President Curt Schwanebek tells KNIA/KRLS, that because of the generosity of the community the theater has reached the amount of money they need to pay their outstanding bill. Stay tuned to KNIA/KRLS for any further updates on The Grand Theater.
