The Marion County Conservation Department is holding a Firefly Adventures event tonight.

This is part of the park after dark series and it will be an evening to learn about the science and beauty of fireflies on the prairie at Cordova Park. The event will start at 7:00 pm and is an opportunity to uncover the secrets of bioluminescence, create a firefly craft, and explore the prairie to safely capture and release these bright insects. Participants are welcome to bring their own insect net or borrow one from the department. Attendees are also encouraged to dress for the weather, bring a water bottle, and blanket or chair for viewing on the prairie. This is a free event for all ages.
