The Pella Community School District has detailed how they intend to use funds awarded by the Iowa Department of Education for therapeutic classrooms in the district. In a news release, district leadership announced the development of two spaces that will serve grades K-8.
A therapeutic classroom is designed to support students who are struggling with emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges that affect their ability to succeed in a traditional classroom. The two new classrooms will be at Madison and Jefferson schools, and will provide a structured, supportive environment where students receive both academic instruction and therapeutic support. District leadership has indicated both rooms will be ready for the upcoming academic year, which starts August 25th.
