The Brothers McCarl dueled for $15,000 on Saturday night in the 360 Shootout at the Knoxville Raceway and Carson came out on top of the brotherly battle as heard live on KNIA. The race began with Clint Garner, Carson McCarl, and Tasker Phillips trading the lead back-a-forth. When Phillips faded midway through the race after restart, it became the McCarls versus Garner until Carson and Garner made contact going to turn three knocking Garner out of contention. There were eight lead changes in the 360 A-Main and McCarl told KNIA/KRLS Sports he had to out duel his brother.
McCarl: “I figured the right was coming across the face. I tried to make the right decisions and looks like I did, and I saw the scoreboard and the video had out by myself, and I said just burn one more good one and we can avoid a day job for a few weeks.”
In the 410s, Ayrton Gennetten won for just the second time in his career as he for the most part dominated the race, but had to deal with a charging Ian Madsen near the end. Gennetten out ran Madsen to the line by .80 of a second. Next week is the final weekly show before Southern Iowa Sprint Week starts off with the 360 Nationals.
