Members of Jasper County’s Community Emergency Response Team were called out Sunday to help residents dealing with standing water from heavy rain. Jasper County Emergency Management brought out pumps to move thousands of gallons of water, and sewer water that caused problems in Colfax, Lynnville, Prairie City, and Mitchellville. The American Red Cross provided cleanup kits, and the Community Emergency Response Team helped distribute them. Jasper County Emergency Management Agency Director Jamey Robinson says the team members support first responders in many ways, and anyone interested in joining should contact his office.

“Give us a call here at the office. We have information on our website jasperema-hls.org. They can go on there and read a little about what the CERT Team is. Get a hold of us and we will gladly talk about it.”

Sunday, Jasper County Emergency Management Agency also received help from the Colfax Fire Department, Kellogg Township Fire and Ambulance, and was given extra equipment  from Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management, Mahaska County Emergency Management, and Polk County Emergency Management Agency.
