pleasantville-3

The Pleasantville baseball team will take on West Lyon in the Class 2A state quarterfinals today in Carroll.

The #2 seeded Trojans are 30-1 on the season and are coming off a 7-0 win over Anamosa in their substate final contest last Tuesday. Pleasantville will now take on the #7 seed West Lyon in their opening game of state tournament play who are 19-6 on the season and defeated Okoboji 10-0 in their substate final game. This is the Trojans second consecutive trip to the state tournament. Last season Pleasantville fell to Chariton in their quarterfinal contest.

The Wildcats are an unfamiliar foe for Pleasantville as the two teams have never played in the Bound era and they have no common opponents with each other. The Trojans carry a team batting average of .347 and average 9.2 runs per game as the Wildcats carry a team average of .317 and score 8.2 runs per game. Both teams have had lights out pitching staffs this season as Pleasantville has a 1.02 team ERA and West Lyon carries a 1.55 team ERA.

Today’s state tournament game will start at 7:00 pm and can be heard live on 95.3 KNIA with the pregame starting at 6:45. Clayton Sampson and Tyler Baethke will be on the call.
