The #4 Martensdale-St. Mary’s baseball team fell behind early but came back in a big way to dominate Hillcrest Academy 18-8 in the class 1A state semifinals Wednesday. The Blue Devils fell behind after the first three innings 8-2, but scored 16 unanswered runs over the next three innings including an 11-run fifth inning. Trey Wight went 4-5 at the plate driving in three runs, while Owen Fitzpatrick also drove in three runs. Cale Morrow came on in relief to earn the win on the mound.
The Blue Devils advance to the class 1A state championship game, taking on #3 Saint Ansgar Friday evening at 5pm.
