Pella Regional Health Center is partnering with the Leighton Lions Club to offer free vision screenings for children ages 6 months through kindergarten.
The event will be held on Thursday, August 14th from 5 to 7 pm in the Conference Room at Pella Regional Health Center. Screenings will be conducted by Iowa KidSight, a statewide initiative led by the Lions Club of Iowa in collaboration with the University of Iowa Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. These screenings fulfill the state requirement for vision checks prior to kindergarten enrollment.
Early detection of vision problems can make a big difference in a child’s learning and development. Screening results will be evaluated by experts at the University of Iowa, and if concerns are detected, families will receive a referral letter along with a list of local ophthalmologists and optometrists for follow-up care.
Families attending the event should use Entrance 5, located off Hazel Street on the northeast side of the hospital. The event is part of Iowa KidSight’s mission to improve the eye health of Iowa’s youngest residents through early detection and treatment of vision impairments.
