The Iowa Renewable Fuels Infrastructure Program Board has approved a $50,000 grant to assist expanding biofuel access at Generational Fuel LLC in Sully. In total, $1.1 million in state cost-share grants have been approved for 24 projects in 17 counties. The financial assistance is meant to help more Iowa fuel stations come into compliance with the E15 Access Standard the Iowa Legislature passed in 2022. It requires most fuel retailers in the state to offer E15 by January 1st of next year.
This past April, Generational Fuel LLC also received $177,750 from the federal Higher Blends Infrastructure Incentive Program. The federal and state aid is earmarked for installing two E15 dispensers, two E85 dispensers, and two B20 dispensers at the Sully business. The additional dispensers are projected to increase Generational Fuel’s biofuel sales by 291,000 gallons per year.
