The beginning of our countdown of the top 10 sports moments from Central College sends us to Dubuque, where the Dutch men’s soccer team accomplished a pair of feats at Loras College on November 2nd.

Entering the American Rivers Conference tournament as the six-seed, Central traveled to the third-seeded Duhawks and picked up a 3-1 win in the first round, marking the first time in program history that the Dutch won at Loras. Central started the scoring quickly in the contest, as Spencer Taylor scored his fifth goal of the season in the sixth minute of the match. After the Dukawks tied the game in the 17th minute, Joe Brown regained the lead for Central in the 40th minute with his third goal of the season on a corner kick from Alejo Marcon. Ian Gredell finished off the scoring in the 61st minute, adding his third goal of the season to solidify the win for the Dutch. Ronan Murphy collected seven saves to help propel Central in the conference tournament.

The win advanced the Dutch to the semifinals of the A-R-C tournament for the first time since 2018, where their season ended with a 1-0 loss to second-seeded Wartburg.
