Counting down the top 10 sports stories of the year for Simpson College, starting with number 10.

The Simpson College softball team had a banner year, starting off hot in non-conference play and then hosted rival Central for a doubleheader, trying to do something they haven’t been able to do in a long time, sweep the Dutch.

With the wind blowing heavily towards center field, the Storm bats went alive and hit nine homeruns in the doubleheader sweep winning game one 11-3 and game two 18-3 with both games lasting just five innings.

The trio of Ashlyn Steen, Megan Heidelbauer, and Lexi Ehlers went 11/17 on the day, driving in 14 runs.
