Jasper County Highway T-38 between U.S. Highway 6 and Interstate 80 is closed to through traffic, and so is East 76th Street North just east of Newton. The Jasper County Road Department says Iowa Interstate Railroad is working on railroad crossings, making the roads impassable. The work southeast of Oakland Acres on Highway T-38 is expected to continue through Friday. Until the highway re-opens, detours are in place using Iowa Highway 224, U.S. Highway 6, and Interstate 80. The closure on East 76th Street North, north of 27th Avenue East, is for today only. The County Road Department says Iowa Interstate Railroad is just doing maintenance work there, and there is no marked detour.
