Counting down the top 10 sports stories of the year for Indianola High School, continuing with #7.

The Indianola boys golf team made a late run after an up-and-down season to qualify for the class 4A state meet held last fall, which included a 6th place finish from Tyler Santi.

The Indians fell to both Norwalk and Dallas Center-Grimes in the Little Hawkeye Conference meet a week before the qualifier, but then bested both of those teams in the state qualifying meet to earn the state qualification.

Tyler Santi said he was a little surprised at the qualification, but the team came together and had a great day and earned the trip to the state meet.
Santi shot 75 on both days of the state meet, leading Indianola to an 11th place finish as a team, after falling behind on day one but earning a 12-stroke improvement as a team to card a 651.

The Indians graduated just two seniors from the state qualifying squad.
