
Monroe’s annual Old Settlers celebration kicks off with several activities tonight. This year’s Old Settler’s theme is “Summer Scare”. Activities this evening include Night Volleyball at 5 p.m., a Foam Party at Madsen Field at 6 p.m., the Children’s Parade at 6:15 p.m., and live music on the square from the Schmidt Brothers at 8 p.m.
There will be rides and concessions all day Saturday along with a car show, arts and crafts, food stands, and bingo. The KNIA/KRLS Lil’ Big Red Radio will also be there from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. playing music and reporting on events. At noon Saturday, an Old Settlers PEO Memorial Service will be held in Town Square Park, followed by a Quilts of Valor ceremony honoring thirteen veterans at 12:15 p.m. The annual Old Settlers Parade on Monroe’s Square begins at 7 p.m. Saturday, followed by live music at 8:30 p.m. from a Country, pop, classic, and gospel band called the “ABLeS”.
