As we are running through our top ten moments for Knoxville, there were so many to choose from that several things just missed the top ten. Today we present the honorable mention moments for Knoxville High School during the 2024/2025 school year. We will go chronological beginning with the fall and August 30th, Randy Wilson Track opens as the new home for Knoxville Football. The Panthers lost to Boone 42-6 but Eli Fuller would make history late in the game.
Continuing with football and Fuller, he set a single game receptions record on October 11th in a game against Creston by hauling in ten passes for 133 yards breaking a mark set by Koby Higginbotham the previous season. Staying with football as the Panthers’s season ended quarterback Brenden Woolsey set the season passing record of 1,257 yards breaking a long standing record held by Ryan Leisure. On November 18th, girls wrestling made its official debut as a varsity sport at Knoxville as the Panthers went to a tournament at Cardinal. More on the girls wrestling program in next week’s countdown. On December 13th Landen Norris put himself in the 1,000 point club in Chariton.
He told KNIA/KRLS Sports making the list with former great Kieren Nichols was an honor.
Norris: “It’s super cool to be in the same club as him. I remember in middle school watching him play and he was a celebrity, and just cool watching him.”
Three days into the new year, the unbeaten Knoxville Boys Basketball Squad finally got its first real challenge of the season, and the Panthers passed with flying colors routing Red Rock Rival Pella 64-41 as Lincoln Norris scored 28 points to lead the Panthers to victory. On January 18th wrestler Tristan Sinnard earned his 100th career win and became the 15th wrestler in school history to win 100 matches. In April, Knoxville was represented at the Drake Relays as Kaiden Smith placed 4th in the high jump and Koby Higginbotham was 3rd in the 110 hurdles. On June 19th, the Knoxville baseball squad traveled to the Field of Dreams Movie Site in Dyersville to play Pella Christian. The Panthers won the game in extra innings on a walk off home run by Lincoln Norris 4-1. We will continue the countdown on Monday with number five.
