We continue the top ten moments for the Knoxville High School year with #5 today. Our 5th moment comes from the fall on November 1st, after three seasons of trying, Cross Country Runner Isaac Rankin finally achieved his first career All-State at the State Meet in Fort Dodge. Rankin had finished well back his freshman and sophomore seasons due to health and other obstacles. His junior season was different as he won his first four races of the season and established himself as one of the top runners in the area. Rankin’s time of 16:17 at State was good enough to allow him to cross the finish line in 11th. Rankin told KNIA/KRLS he was better prepared this season.
Rankin: “I know my body better and know what I need to do in preparation. Running alone is tougher because running in a pack with a lot of guys pushes you and helps a ton.”
Rankin will return for his senior season this fall to try for a fourth trip to State and a second all-state designation.
